This HETAS course is for candidates who have relevant experience within the construction industry, including allied trades such as plumbing and heating installers. A training certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the course, enabling the candidate to apply for registration with HETAS on the competent person's registration scheme for the installation of dry appliances.
Course Content: The H003DS is mainly a theory-based course and does not have any practical teaching. The course comprises 7 units: Fuel, Types, Storage and Selection: principles of combustion, causes of incomplete combustion & CO poisoning; Appliance types, Operating principle & Selection; Legislation, Regulations & Industry Guidance; Flue system & ventilation requirements; Flue & chimney inspection, testing & fault diagnosis; Dry Solid Fuel appliance: sizing, selection, installation, commissioning & decommissioning; Service & Maintenance.
Pre-Requisites: At least one of the following:
- Demonstrable, relevant work experience.
- OFTEC technician – 101, 102 or 105e.
- Registered Gas Safe operative – CCN1 and HTR1
- Registered member of GOMCS, APICS or NACS
